This is a complete basic “starter” kit for those who wish to build their own MIDI controller using the Starr Labs D5 CPU card. This could be a drum pad brain, a MIDI guitar, unconventional keyboard, even a MIDI harp! You’ll need to add support components and sensors as desired to achieve your dream design. Included in this kit is everything you need to get a functional “brain” with display and menu system. You will need to connect the sensors, switches and potentiometers of your choice to get this working.

This Starter Kit Includes:
  • D5 CPU Card w/Display Programmer
  • MIDI Jacks (also acts as power input)
  • Joystick (for navigating the menu as well as sending MIDI commands)
  • Power Switch
  • Starr Labs PB-1 MIDI Phantom Power Box
  • 9vDC power supply
  • 2 6′ MIDI cables
  • EPROM of your choice
One EPROM is included with the kit. The different EPROMs are suited for different combinations of sensors/triggers as follows:
Event Station – Software from the Kurzweil Event Station, good for drum pads and momentary switches
Z6 (Pads) – Accepts Starr Labs fingerboard assembly and M2 Trigger Pads (along with Volume, Modulation, Sustain, etc)
Z6S (Strings) – Accepts Starr Labs fingerboard assembly and String Trigger Kit (along with Volume, Modulation, Sustain, etc)
Z6S MK3 (Strings and Pads) – Accepts Starr Labs fingerboard assembly, M2 Trigger Pads and String Trigger Kit (along with Volume, Modulation, Sustain, etc)
Z6SP (Strings and 6-Pots) – Accepts Starr Labs fingerboard assembly, String Trigger Kit, and 6-Potentiometer Harness (along with Volume, Modulation, Sustain, etc)
